Holland America Line is investing over $300 million dollars in fleet-wide enhancements in the coming years.  The first ships, Eurodam and Oosterdam have already enjoyed their portion of the improvements and the remainder of the fleet will cycle through during routine dry dock visits.
"Our suites are the epitome of luxury and pampering, and the new amenities and upgrades will ensure that our suite
guests will continue to enjoy the finest in cruise accommodations.
We have an ongoing program in place to keep our ships looking fresh, but dry-docking gives us an opportunity to take enhancements to the next level to ensure we deliver the elements that make up the Holland America Line cruise experience." said Orlando Ashford, Holland America Line's president.

Many changes are aimed at adding creature comforts cruise aficionados will appreciate.  LED lights for reading at night or seeing without having to activate the entire staterooms lighting.  USB power outlets near the bed for phones, cameras and personal electronics.  Interactive TVs with video on demand, the usual shipboard programs as well as reservation and billing access.  Bathrooms will gain fashionable decor and features to make most cruise passengers wish to live as well at home.
Other notable changes will include exclusive use of lounges for select grades of suites, complimentary laundry and dry cleaning, higher end duvets, robes, slippers, binoculars, and in-suite espresso machines.
Beyond the staterooms, such as on Eurodam, the "Gallery Bar" will serve cocktails as designed by Dale DeGroff, a noted mixologist.  The Lido Market will recreate the original buffet into a more modern venue with food stations spanning the worlds cuisine.  Sel de Mer, a eatery featuring French seafood will debute as well.  New entertainment partnerships with Billboard magazine and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts will bring wide ranging live music to the fleet.
The rest of the Holland America fleet will proceed through refits starting with Nieuw Amsterdam, Westerdam, Zuiderdam, Noordam, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Volendam and finally the Zaandam.
